Sheila A. Miller, 66, retired United States Postal Service employee for over 25 years, died Friday, Aug. 1, 2008, as the result of a tragic hunting accident.
Mrs. Miller was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend to many. An avid reader, she spent most of her time in the early mornings watching the sun rise, reading her daily devotional and learning more about God's written word. Mrs. Miller was a devout Christian woman who loved her family and hearing about the latest activities in her children's lives. She enjoyed being with her husband and would have celebrated their 49th wedding anniversary this month. In addition to reading, she loved to travel, driving to the family farm and spending time with family and friends. She was proud of her husband Max, and the way he maintained the lawn, groomed the gardens, and any new projects around the house. She was proud of her son Mike and his obtaining his Masters degree; daughter-in-law Mary, and any new recipes that were tried out on family; her daughter Kelly, and son-in-law Bob, and their mission work in Nairobi, Kenya, and ministry in Austin, Texas.
She loved her three grandchildren Kimberly, Courtney, and Bradley, and watching them grow to be fine young adults. Every person she touched became a part of her legacy to the world. She was preceded in death her parents; Oscar (O.L.) and Pearlie Johnson, Wellington; parent-in-laws, Vern and Lola Miller, Caldwell.
Survivors: husband, Max of Wichita; son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Mary Miller, Wichita; daughter and son-in-law Kelly and Rev. Bob Shipps, Austin, TX; grandchildren, Bradley Miller and Courtney Miller, Wichita; Kymberly and Stephen Stanford, Austin, Texas; brother, Ronald Johnson, Wellington; sister and brother-in-law, Yvonne and Merle Kloefkorn, Caldwell; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Charlene and Larry Bunton, Wichita. She had many nieces, nephews, cousins and good friends.
Services were held at 10 a.m., Monday, Aug. 4, 2008 at the First Church of the Nazarene, 1400 E. Kellogg. Graveside services were held at 2 p.m., the same day at Caldwell Cemetery, in Caldwell.
A memorial has been established with the First Church of the Nazarene, 1400 E. Kellogg, Wichita, KS 67211.
