Bernadene L. Zimmer, 85, of Wellington, homemaker, died Tuesday, June 10, 2008 at the Golden Living Center in Wellington.
    Funeral services for Bernadene will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, June 14, 2008 in the chapel of Day Funeral Home and Crematory in Wellington.
    Friends may call at the funeral home from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., Friday, June 13, 2008 with the family present on Friday evening from 6 to 7 p.m..
    Interment will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery, South Haven.
    Bernadene was born the daughter of John L. and Marguerite L. (Race) Dawkins on Sunday, April 22, 1923 in Argonia.
    She graduated from South Haven High School with the Class of 1941. Bernadene later joined the United States Navy and serverd from 1944 to 1946.
    On Oct. 25, 1947, Bernadene and Norbert A. Zimmer were united in marriage at Lawrence. Together they celebrated over 60 years of marriage.
    She was preceded in death by her parents.
    Survivors include her husband, Norbert Zimmer of Wellington; children, James A. Zimmer and his wife Ralphfae of Burnsville, Minn., Terrill S. Wold and her husband John of Riverside, Calif., and Steven D. Zimmer of Sparks, Nevada; six grandchildren; brother, John Dawkins and his wife Linda of Wichita.
    A memorial has been established in her loving memory with the Avenue of Flags, P.O. Box 339, Wellington, KS 67152. Contributions can be mailed or left with the funeral home.
