Winifred “Winnie” Maxine Van Pelt, 85, of Wellington, died Tuesday, Aug. 5, 2008 at her home in Wellington.
Graveside funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 9, 2008 at Sumner Memorial Gardens in Wellington.
Visitation will be held Friday, August 8, 2008 from 9 a.m. until 9 p.m. with the family greeting friends from 6 to 7 p.m.
Winnie was born on Sept. 11, 1922 the daughter of Lewis Wonderly and Vida Pearl Wonderly in Decatur County, Kan. She was a 1942 graduate of Oberlin High School. On Sept. 20, 1944 Winnie was united in marriage with Harold “Lefty” Van Pelt in Oberlin, Kan. Winnie was a homemaker who enjoyed reading, shopping, gardening and crocheting and loved her family.
Surviving to honor her memory is her son Larry Van Pelt and wife Donna of Wellington; daughter Linda Briley and husband Lin of Wellington; and her brother Rolland Wonderly and wife Dodie of Arvada, Colo.; grandchildren Jeremy Van Pelt and wife Sheree, Carri Tooman and husband Jake, Tara Huck, Melissa Sprueill and husband Tim, Christopher Brown and wife Laurie, Matthew Brown and wife Kristin and Katheryn Ingracia and husband Tony; great grandchildren Cassandra Huck, Ashleigh Huck, Dylan Sprueill, Briley Sprueill, Ashley, Lindsey, Jordan, and Sarah Brown, Taylor and Garrett Brown and Sam and Sydney Ingracia.
Preceding her in death are her husband in 2004, her parents and daughter Pamela Sue.
A memorial has been established with Hospice Care of Kansas. Contributions can be left with or mailed to the Hawks-Shelley Funeral Home & Crematory of Wellington.
