Claude T. Goodnight, 79 of Oxford, Kansas, died Saturday, June 20 2009 at the St. Francis Hospital in Wichita, Kansas.
Memorial services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Tuesday, June 23rd at the Oxford Funeral Service Chapel in Oxford. A memorial has been established with the American Cancer Society. Claude Truman Goodnight was born on May 29, 1930 in Detroit, Michigan the son of Claude Edmond and Zelda Hoytya Goodnight. Claude attended school in Dexter before joining the United States Army. Claude faithfully served his country during the Korean War. Claude was united in marriage with Venita Ramsey on August 27, 1953 in Arkansas City. He was the Chief Inspector for Lamar Electro-Aire for a number of years before retiring in 1990. Claude and Venita owned and operated “Goodnight Gifts” from 1991 to 1997 in Oxford. Claude enjoyed fishing reading, crossword puzzles and professional sports and his dog Max.
Surviving to honor his memory is his wife Venita of Oxford, son John Goodnight and wife Cindy of Oxford, daughters Joni Herrington and husband Bill of Wellington and Patti De Haven and husband Tom of Oxford, son-in-law Marvin Lauffer of Winfield and seven grandchildren: Wendy, Becky, Erin, Arthur, Truman, Andrew and Samantha.
Preceding him in death are his parents and daughter Lori Lauffer.
