Jack D. Keltch
Jack D. Keltch, of Wichita, Kansas, (formerly of Wellington, Kansas), beloved husband, father and grandfather, passed away Sunday, June 28, 2009 at Via Christi-St. Francis in Wichita, Kansas at the age of 80.
Jack was born the son of Thomas William and Hazel Viola (Erion) Keltch on Monday, June 10, 1929 in Alva, Oklahoma.
He served in the United States Army during the Korean War and was honorably discharged in 1951. Following his discharge, he continued farming and later became an elementary school principal. While teaching, Jack served as a basketball, track, tennis and football coach. Before moving to Kansas in 1988, he served as the Alfalfa County Treasurer. Upon moving to Wellington, Jack became a bus driver and assistant manager for the Wellington Public Schools System. He was a lifelong member of the First United Methodist Church.
Jack was blessed with two marriages. He first married Jean Costello on October 19, 1946. After 28 years of marriage, Jean passed away on December 30, 1973. On February 25, 1975, Jack and Nancy Wyatt Ware were united in marriage in Alva, Oklahoma. Together they celebrated over 34 years of marriage.
Jack was a 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason and past Master Mason in Cherokee, Oklahoma along with being a member of the Lions Club in Cherokee, Oklahoma.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Marlene Weston, brother Thomas D. Keltch and previous wife Jean (Costello) Keltch.
Survivors include his wife, Nancy Keltch of Wichita, Kansas, sons; Peter Keltch and his companion Phillip Grate of Edmond, Oklahoma, Robert Keltch and his wife Susan of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Jack E. Keltch and his wife Lilli of Wellington, Kansas, daughters; Amy Jacqueline Troutman and her husband Jeremy of Wichita, Kansas, Karen K. Ohrmann and her husband Rusty of Wellington, Kansas, Lenay Kingaid and her husband Mike of Carmen, Oklahoma, Kim Brzowski and her husband Chris of Hutchinson, Kansas, sister, Dorthy Geis and her husband Warren of Enid, Oklahoma, grandchildren; Robert Dean Keltch II of Blackwell, Oklahoma, Kristin Gayden and her husband Patterson of Wellington, Kansas, Stephen Wade Maxwell and his wife Jami of Wellington, Kansas, Falesidy Ohrmann of Wellington, Kansas, Aaron Brzowski of Hutchinson, Kansas, Erion and Evan Kingaid of Carmen, Oklahoma, Cole and Cason Troutman of Wichita, Kansas, Jackson Keltch of Wellington, Kansas, great-grandchildren; Isaiah, Kaydence and Gabriella Gayden of Wellington, Kansas, Roxan Webster of Wellington, Kansas, Chase and Kenna Maxwell of Wellington, Kansas.
Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 30, 2009 with the family present from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m..
Funeral services for Jack will be held at 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, July 1, 2009 in First United Methodist Church of Cherokee, Oklahoma.
Interment will follow at the Cherokee Municipal Cemetery, Cherokee, Oklahoma.
