A memorial service for Everett Lee Haines, of Argonia, Kansas, is scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Friday, August 13, 2010 in the chapel at Argonia Cemetery. There will be no visitation as cremation has taken place. He died Sunday, August 1, 2010 at Golden Living Center in Wellington, Kansas at the age of 82. Lee was born the son of Robert L. and Lenore (Beals) Haines on September 7, 1927 in Moorestown, New Jersey. As well as having been a chemist at Glaxo Smith Kine and Hollings, Inc. for many years, Lee had a diverse life and interests. Pursuits included: surveying, martial arts, and writing poetry and prose. He also helped with Argonia Friendship Meals. Lee was preceded in death by his wife of 44 years, Elizabeth (Leah) Haines. Survivors include his son Christopher L. Haines of Massachusetts, several cousins, nieces and nephews and close friends in many states. In lieu of flowers or plants, the family suggests contributions to Senior Center Memorial Account, 1220 West 20th Avenue North, Argonia, Kansas 67004.
