Dear editor,

My grandmother, B Barry, passed away on February 3, 2012 at Sumner Regional Medical Center. Although her passing was extremely sad for us all, I am overwhelmed with gratitude to Dr. Larry Anderson and the entire hospital staff.

I cannot put into adequate words the level of compassion and quality of care that was provided during her stay. The therapy department and nursing staff are truly top notch and were so wonderful to my grandmother, her husband and our family.

I myself am a physician at a large medical center and I realize larger hospitals do have many great things to offer. However, there is no substitute for genuinely good people who are invested in a community and committed to the patients they serve. The community of Wellington is so fortunate to have such a wonderful facility.

Keeping smaller community hospitals operational presents many challenges to communities such as Wellington. I encourage everyone in the community to utilize this wonderful facility. My family’s experience was as positive as it could have been considering our loss. I am extremely grateful to the SRMC staff.

Sincerely,

Michelle Weber Schierling MD
