The Wellington Sailfish Swim Team opened the 2009 campaign with a shortened meet against Valley Center here. Wellington lost 245-144 Tuesday.
The meet was called after 45 events due to a thunderstorm that blew into the area around 8 p.m. The meet became an official Missouri Valley Swimming event though because at least 50 percent of it was performed.
WST had an impressive list of Division II qualifiers Thursday. There were 11 swimmers getting DII times, meaning they can swim in the qualifier DII meet this summer. WST has had several swimmers go to Wichita Aqua-Shocks and Wichita Swim Club this past winter season, and the results were showing Tuesday.
    Those getting DII times were:
    •Eric Anders, 50 free, 31.00.
    •Bliss Baird, 50 free, 36.40 and 50 fly 43.65.
    •Aurora Bonham, 50 free 44.06 and 50 back 54.75.
    •Savanna Bonham, 50 free, 38.31.
    •Jonathan Etter, 50 free, 31.65.
