WELLINGTON — Michelle and Dutch Brownlee, mother and son bowlers from Wellington, have qualified to compete in the Quibica/AMF International family tournament in Fort Worth, Texas, July 30-Aug. 2.
Their tournament trail began this spring at Meadow Lanes in Wellington, where they qualified for the zone competition in El Dorado. They, in turn, qualified for the state tournament in Kansas City.
At the state tournament, Michelle and Dutch earned a spot in the international tournament by placing second among 107 parent/child teams from across Kansas.
Fewer than 100 bowlers have qualified for the international tournament so Michelle and Dutch are excited about the opportunity to be there.
Their expense paid trip will include a Texas Rangers baseball game and pro bowler exhibitions, among other events.
Along with the state trophies they have already earned, Dutch will also receive a scholarship award, the amount of which will depend on the final international standings.
