The 2010 USA National Games are in the history books, and 59 Kansas Storm Delegates wrote their own chapter including former Wellington resident Jordan Mitchell.
In Kansas, Jordan Mitchell, a member of team Douglas County Jayhawks and former Wellington resident, competed in aquatics at the USA National Games.
Mitchell, the son of Julie and the late Jackson Mitchell, came home with four medals — including gold for the 4x25M Individual Medley, 4x25M Medley Relay and 100 M freestyle relay; and one silver for 100 meter freestyle.
Overall, The delegates brought home 21 Gold, 26 Silver and 15 Bronze medals participating in nine sports. Additionally, the athletes enjoyed opening and closing ceremonies, Olympic Village, Sports Fest, Healthy Athlete screenings and much more.

One of the most exciting events happened on the last day of the games, when the Kansas Basketball Team beat North Carolina for the win. With 90 seconds left, the Storm rallied for a come-from behind victory to take the Gold and win 26-25.

Seventeen coaches accompanied the delegates and helped with the victories, and almost 300 Stormwatchers (family members, friends and fans from Kansas), made the trip to Lincoln.
The National Games are held every four years. The first was held in 2006 in Ames Iowa. The 2010 games were held July 18-23 in Lincoln, Neb.    The 2014 games location has not been selected.
