Heath Carroll, a linebacker for the Wellington Crusader football team, has been named Defensive Most Valuable Player in the 2008 All Ark Valley-Chisholm Trail League Division IV list released today.
The All AV-CTL DIV list consists of six member schools and the selections were made by the head football coaches.
Member schools include Wellington, Andale, Rose Hill, Circle, Kingman and Clearwater.
Carroll was Wellington's leading tackler. He had 20 solo tackles, 89 assisted tackles, 28 initial contacts, 15 tackles for losses, two sacks, four quarterback hurries, two knockdowns, three fumble recoveries, one defensive touchdown and five big plays this season according to Wellington stats.
Carroll joined 11 other Crusaders who made the all-league list.
Seth Carroll and Sage Aguilar were named on both the first team offense and defense list.
S. Carroll was named a first team tight end and first team defensive end. S. Carroll accounted for 12 solos and 63 assisted tackles for the season defensively. He had eight touchdown catches for 84 yards and two touchdowns as a tight end.
Aguilar was first-team wide receiver getting 21 receptions for 388 yards and five touchdowns for an 18.5 average.
He also was named first team defensive back. He had 24 unassisted and 53 assisted tackles for the season.
Dylan Woodbridge was named first team defensive back. He had 10 solo and 11 assisted tackles for the Crusaders.
Matt Kiker was named first team offensive lineman.
Tyler Rayl, a junior, made the first team defensive line. He had 12 solo and 43 assists.
Felipe Matsuzoe was named first team kicker with 28 PATS on 34 conversions and four field goals.
On the second team list, Tanner Church was named at running back.
H. Carroll was named second team punter.
Dylan Bowman was second team linebacker.
On the honorable mention list, H. Carroll was named running back; Woodbridge, wide receiver; S. Carroll, special teams; Casey Dry, linebacker; and Drake Koerner, defensive back; Hefley, defensive end.
Offensive player of the year was Corey Harp of Andale, who is a senior.
Gary O'Hair of Andale was named coach of the year.
