Derek Harrison won the Championship flight of the Wellington Golf Association Match-Play Championship held Saturday and Sunday at the Wellington Golf Club.
Harrison joins three other golfers who won their respective flights and earned a $225 check for it.
Brad Stocking was the winner of Flight A.
Bob Martin was the winner of Flight B and Richard Orton was the winner of Flight C.
There was $2,300 paid out to the top three winners of each flight. Flight runner-ups received $150 while semifinalists got $100 each.
The tournament was based on a 16-player bracket against two individual golfers. Flights are determined by handicap.
Scoring is based on each hole won, against the other. For example if one shoots a 4 another a 5, the first golfer wins the hole.
The next hole everyone starts over.
When a golfer wins more holes than the other can catch up with, he is deemed the winner and the golf game ends.
For example: one golfer is seven up with six holes to play. Thus the score is 7 and 6.
