Wellington, Kan. -

The Wellngton Sailfish swam their way to Winfield, or at least got into the car and drove to Winfield Aquatic Center to participate in their first road meet of the season.
Perhaps, as a team, the Sailfish should have stayed home
Winfield, with nearly twice the swimmers as Wellington, dominated 502-211. A bigger problem, Wellington was missing some key swimmers Tuesday evening.
But all should be better Tuesday when Wellington comes home to host Derby at the Wellington Aquatic Center for the final home dual of the season starting at 6 p.m.
There were no additional Division II times for the Sailfish, but there was some personal best.
Matthew Hurley, age 13, was Wellington's individual high point-getter scoring 16.5 points for the day. Eric Anders, at 15, got 15.25 points while Baily Etter, age 7, had 13.50.
There were several personal bests. Jonathan Etter shaved off 19.13 seconds off the 50 backstroke for 11-12 year olds.
Baily Etter scored a first-place finish in the 100 freestyle for 8-and-under and shaved off an astonishing 26.66 seconds.
Bliss Baird continues to make her mark in swimming with another first-place win in the highly competitive 50 and 100 free for 9-10 year olds, and also took off an amazing 36.68 seconds in the 200 IM.
Emma Dillon in the 50 back would shave of 17.01 seconds in the 8-under division.
This was Wellington's first foray into long course swimming. Winfield has 50-meter swimming lanes as opposed to Wellington which has 25.
