The Wellington High School girls basketball team snapped their two-game losing streak on Jan. 3, against Wichita Collegiate.
It was a close dual in the first quarter, but Wellington had a two-point advantage heading into the second. That's when the Lady Crusaders started to take control of the game, outscoring Collegiate 18-9. The halftime score was 34-23, advantage Wellington.
In the second half, Wellington had another big quarter in the third, that helped them clench the victory. Collegiate was only able to nab seven points, to Wellington's 20. In the fourth, each team scored 11 points, leading to the final 49-33 score.
Ashlyn Whaley, senior, had a monster game, scoring 26 of the teams points. The Lady Crusaders are 5-2 on the season.
