Wellington defense shuts out El Dorado in third quarter on way to win

A road game in El Dorado was in store for the Wellington High School boys basketball team, and they would come home with a win. Levi Gurley, senior, lead the team with another 20-plus point game, in route to the Crusaders 48-36 victory.

Wellington held the lead through the entire game, and got things started off in the right direction, ending the first period up 14-10. By half time, each team was one point shy of doubling their points, Wellington lead 27-19

It was shut-out city in the third quarter, Wellington's defense stepped up and kept El Dorado from scoring any points. The Crusaders advanced their lead to 34-19 heading into the fourth

El Dorado did make up for a lack-luster offensive performance in the final period. They outscored Wellington 17-14, but it wasn't enough. The Crusaders got the win, and get to rest up before their next contest on Feb. 3, at Augusta.
