By Matthew Wiebe Last weekend at the Wellington Municipal Airport, we fueled a Short SC-7 Skyvan that was flying from Chicago to Phoenix carrying a group of skydivers. This British aircraft, nicknamed the “Flying Shoebox”, is primarily used for short-haul freight or airborne operations. It can carry up to 28 sport jumpers or 20 troopers and has double-bag static line capabilities. Manufactured by Short Brothers of Belfast, Northern Ireland, a total of 149 Skyvans were produced between 1963 and 1986. Photo submitted
