The Crusaders had a couple of top finishers on April 16.

Rain halted the Circle High School Tennis Invitational last week, but only prevented a few consolation matches from being settled. Wellington had a couple of players do well before the skies darkened.

Tyler Pettegrew, sophomore, finished in the top spot in the Number Two Singles bracket. He won all three of his matches, defeating players from Parsons (8-3), Circle (8-2), and Augusta (8-4) in route to the gold.

"Since he transitioned from Doubles, Tyler is getting some good experience in singles and continues to have success with a 6-0 record," said Head Coach, Allen Keller. "I'm very pleased with his mental approach and patience needed to compete at singles."

Dukes duo of Chaz Crittenden, senior, and Anthony Glazer, junior, earned a silver medal at Circle in the Number Two Doubles category. Their lone loss at CHS came in the finals against Capps/Hoffmeister from Independence, Kan.

"Chaz and Anthony continue to impress me at Doubles as they improve their serve and volley games," Keller said. "They're now 11-4 for the season." Team standings weren't finalized due to weather, but Keller said that WHS scored 44 points and indicated that may be good for third place.
