Currency Connects to Local History

The Currency Corner in downtown Wellington specializes in offering vintage currency and unique coins. They currently have some very interesting bills that have a special Wellington connection.

One thing about working at the museum, you never know what history rabbit hole you’re going to go down. Recently, we had a visitor from Oklahoma City who asked if we had any information on the Wellington Maroons baseball club.

What’s this?

It’s almost the summer solstice and this heat has me wishing for the cooler weather. So, in the spirit of cooler weather, this is an almost halfway to Christmas story! Of course, you guessed these are vintage glass Christmas ornaments, but how did they become the Christmas norm?

Scams Target Kansas Seniors

The Internal Revenue Service recently issued a warning about the rising threat of impersonation scams targeting older adults in Kansas. By pretending to be government officials, criminals are stealing sensitive personal information and money. “Scammers often target seniors, attempting to steal personal information through phone calls, emails or text messages by pretending to be from the IRS or other agencies or businesses,” said IRS Commissioner Danny Werfel.

A Fifty State Adventure

How many of the United States of America have you personally traveled to? Landing at an airport doesn’t count, how many states have you spent at least a day exploring? Perhaps traveling isn’t your “thing”, but maybe you still have an innate curiosity about the 50 states and what makes them unique.
