As the joint task force between the Wellington Police Department, Sumner County Sheriff ’s Office, and the Kansas Bureau of Investigation continued re-interviewing and pursuing new leads, they discovered that some individuals of interest were no longer living, while others had moved out of the area.

Celebrating The Nichols

The family of Jean and Ron Nichols invites the community to share in a memorial service for them on Saturday, June 22, at 11am at the Wellington First Presbyterian Church, 1419 Western Avenue in Wellington. For over six decades, the Nichols family owned and operated a home appliance store in downtown Wellington.

Lifeguard Of The Week: Anna Ewing

WHS senior Anna Ewing has been working at the Wellington Family Aquatic Center as a lifeguard for two years. Her favorite part about being a Lifeguard is helping people. She enjoys meeting new guests and building friendships with the other lifeguards.

Welcome to Oz

Since the beginning of May, actors with the Wellington Community Theater have been rehearsing for their upcoming children’s production of “The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.” As they did with their performance in December, the play will be presented by two different casts performing four shows June 28th - 30th.

Outdoor Pickleball Courts Are Ready!

At the Kueneke Tennis Courts, located just south of Eisenhower Elementary School, two new pickleball courts have been added for the community to enjoy. Wellington Recreation Commission (WRC) Superintendent Cody White, along with volunteers Sue Denny, Jared Brown, and Betty Zeka, painted the lines for the courts last Thursday.

Cowley Recognizes Wellington Students

The Registrar’s Office at Cowley College has released the names of students who earned spots on the President’s and Dean’s honor rolls for the spring 2024 semester. Students on the President’s Honor Roll achieved a perfect 4.0 GPA, completing a minimum of 12 credit hours.
