Members of the Wheat Capital Quilt Society have been busy making quilts to donate to a national nonprofit whose mission is to build, assemble and deliver bunk beds with a handmade quilt to children and families in need. Last week, the Quilt Society welcomed Ingrid McClure and Franci Nicks, area chapter volunteers with Sleep in Heavenly Peace, to their monthly meeting.

Over the last couple of weeks, we’ve had several Sikorsky UH-60 Black Hawk helicopters refuel at the Wellington Municipal Airport. This helicopter is a four-blade, twin-engine, medium-lift utility military helicopter that’s really exciting to watch fly in.

Local Connections At Community Resource Fair

The Community Resource Fair hosted last week by the Wellington Public Library and the Wellington Area Chamber of Commerce/CVB was a resounding success. Visitors had the opportunity to connect with representatives from 30 informational booths, learning about a wide range of resources available to local residents.

The second annual community-wide Spring Clean-up event is scheduled for Saturday, April 20th, from 7:30 - 10:30am at Sellers Park, 601 East Harvey Avenue. Event organizer Erma Ratliff is spreading the word earlier this year, hoping to attract more residents to take advantage of the free service.
