The Wellington Municipal Airport had a busy week with helicopters coming in to refuel including a MD 900 and Airbus H160. This MD 900 Explorer was headed to Amarillo, and enjoys a cruising speed of 154 mph.

Upcoming Babysitting Clinic

Do you know a young person in your family or community group who is interested in becoming a babysitter? The K-State Research and Extension office is offering a babysitting class for kids aged 10 and older on Friday, March 15th, from 9am - 2pm at the Raymond Frye Complex, 320 North Jefferson in Wellington. The class is limited to 20 participants, so register soon! The deadline for online registration is Friday, March 8th, and there is a $15.00 fee to participate.

What’s Growing On?

Put on your best walking shoes and tie those laces! Registration is open for the Walk Kansas program conducted through the Sumner County K-State Extension Office. Physical health, nutrition and hydration are all key elements bringing Kansans together during this 8-week program.

Compost Site Opens For Spring

The Wellington Compost Site is now open and available for the disposal of brush, straw, weeds, plants, grass, leaves, sticks, tree limbs, stumps, and bamboo. There is no charge to residents for the disposal of yard waste.

The Science Fair!

Join the Wellington Middle School students on Wednesday, March 20th, from 5 - 6pm, as they host their Science Fair! Under the guidance of the WMS Science Department, our young scientists have been hard at work preparing to showcase the wonders of science through their experiments and demonstrations. With over 50 presentations to explore, spanning categories such as Aerodynamics & Flight Stability, Animal Science, Behavioral & Social projects, Chemistry, Cellular & Molecular, Engineering, Earth & Environmental, Food Science, Materials Science, Physics & Astronomy, Robotics, Sports Science, and Technology Enhances the Arts, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.
