Homestead Celebrates Sharon Shore

This month’s Friends & Family dinner at Homestead of Wellington took on a special meaning as the community gathered with residents to remember Sharon Shore. Sharon passed away in January, and the soup dinner honored her memory by celebrating her love of animals.

Bingo Night Raises Funds For Scholarships

Local community organization, Wellington Young Professionals (WYP), hosted a Bingo Night at the Knights of Columbus Hall last Saturday to raise funds for local student scholarships. More than 100 bingo players participated in 10 regular games and 3 blackout games, contributing to the funds raised to support WHS seniors.

Wellington Lake Opens March 1st

Beginning at 10am on Wednesday, March 1st camping permits will be issued at the Wellington Lake Office for campsites located on the east side of the lake. Beginning at 10am on March 2, permits will be sold for the west side of the lake.

Repairs Coming to Highway 81

Next week, the Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT) will begin a project to repair cracks on U.S. Highway 81 in Sumner County. The project will stretch from East 60th Street South to the Sumner/Sedgwick county line, covering over 30 miles of highway excluding the city of Wellington.

Pet of the Week

Aurora is a beautiful girl with a big personality! At almost 2 years old, she has waited longer than most to find her purrfect home. She absolutely loves people and demands affection and conversation. She is probably best as an only pet as she wants all her peoples’ attention! She loves humans of all ages and would make an excellent companion for someone who is home a lot. She will make sure you feel loved! Stop in this week to meet Aurora! We are open Wednesday through Friday 3-7pm and Saturday 10am-2pm. If you are interested in adoption, please complete the online application before coming in. We adopt in order of when the application is received, so the sooner you get your application in the better! Aurora is one of our Special Pets and her adoption fee is during her week!
