The Lady Crusaders opened their 2023-2024 season at home last Friday night with a victory over Mulvane. It was Wellington’s fourth straight season opening win.

Newly re-elected Wellington City Councilman and Sumner County Undersheriff Mike Westmoreland graduated from the Kansas Certified Public Manager Program last week. The management and leadership development program is designed to equip public managers with the skills needed to excel in their current roles, as well as those to which they aspire.

Bipartisan Bill Aimed at Helping Veterans

U.S. Representatives Sharice Davids of eastern Kansas and Mark Alford of western Missouri secured U.S. House approval of legislation designed to make it easier for veterans to use federal resources to start a business after completing military service.

Plans are underway for the launch of the Wind Energy Technology program on the Sumner Campus this spring. The instructor, James Wood, has extensive industry experience and is excited about building a destination program here in South Central Kansas.
