The American Library Association recently published a national survey entitled “Gen Z and Millennials: How They Use Public Libraries and Identify Through Media Use”. Among a number of interesting facts was that people ages 40 and younger, although not identifying themselves as readers, use the public library at higher rates than the previous generation.
Staff and members of the Wellington Recreation Commission are leading a“ Warm The Children” apparel drive for kids in kindergarten through8 th grade. The donated clothing items ;coats ,hats ,gloves, pajamas ,socks ,sweatpants ,tops ,hoodies ,leggings ,and underwear will be divided among the four Wellington Elementary Schools and the Middle School.
It has generated a buzz on both sides of the aisle, a border debate, and an inordinate amount of social media commentary. A lot of people simply don’t like the design.
Question: We recently moved into a newer home and are not loving the look of our old furniture. It seems kind of tired and doesn’t really fit with the style of our new home. But, I can’t justify getting rid of it just because we’ve moved. How would you deal with this situation?

Last Thursday morning, students at Washington Elementary participated in “Interest Day” which featured 11 different speakers on a variety of different topics. Students spent about 20 minutes in each presentation, then rotated between classrooms to learn more about a diverse number of subjects including horses, cooking, art, dance and much more.
The Wellington High School cheer and dance teams were invited to compete in the 2023 KSHSAA Spirit Game Day competition held in Topeka. Members of the Crimson Dancers include: Maggie Dry, Kate Haines, Gabrielle Cramer, Cameron Gore, Aspen Hall, Whitney Zeka, Sadie Camblin, Randee Raschke, Kira Worley, Mallory Dry, Bailee Havner, Natilee Larkin, Aleena Rinehart and Piper Weber.
Over the weekend, Jamie and Daniel YoNash put the final touches on a festive Coca-Cola Christmas display in the windows of 118 South Washington. Coca-Cola began running Christmas themed ads that included Santa Claus in the 1920’s.
