WHS Hosts Scholars Bowl

“What is the largest mammal in the world?” If you knew the answer, you might have enjoyed last week’s Scholars Bowl. WHS students engaged in the spirit of academic competition both in Wellington on Tuesday and then again in Mulvane on Thursday.

_________.______ On a picturesque autumn Saturday, the Wellington Masonic Lodge #150 buzzed with festivity, as locals gathered to bask in the warmth of good music, delicious food, and uplifting community. As the sun shone down, attendees enjoyed live music performed from the back of a flatbed truck.

Kansas Cold Weather Rule

With the onset of colder weather, the Kansas Cold Weather Rule took effect beginning November 1st and will remain active until March 31st. This rule is a safety net for individuals struggling to pay their utility bills, ensuring they have heat through the winter months.

____ __________ The pickleball craze has officially dinked its way into Wellington, with the town hosting its first-ever tournament this past Saturday at the Armaan Foundation Activity Center. Ten teams battled it out to be crowned pickleball Champs of Sumner County, proving that in this sport, if you can’t take the heat, stay out of the kitchen! Pickleball has taken the country by storm becoming the fastest growing sport in 2023 with over 36 million players across the U.S.

Crusaders Win Playoff Battle

________. __ The Wellington football team won a thriller to advance in the 4A state playoffs on Friday night against Field Kindley (Coffeyville.) The Dukes defense stole the show coming up with big stops when the team needed them.
