2024: My Top 3

&e closing of another calendar year means the end of the 2024 sports season. As we jump into 2025, I wanted to share my personal picks for the top three athletes of 2024 as well as a few of my favorite stories from the year.

Pet of the Week

Rover came to us in December of 2022 as a skinny pup found dumped with his siblings in the country. After getting healthy, they were slowly adopted out - all but Rover. Now, he is a large mix weighing 67 pounds with an adorable underbite and beautiful brown eyes which plead to give him a chance. He is a little shy, but super sweet!

WHS Girls Battle Andale, Get Win

Following an 84-6 victory over Wichita Collegiate, which included both Britt Zeka and Val Norwood going over the 1,000 career point mark, the Welling - ton girl's basketball team traveled to Andale for their nal game of 2024.

Fulfilling Christmas Wishes

Volunteers with Operation Holiday brought Christmas joy to more than 275 children in Sumner County this holiday season. This remarkable effort relies on significant donations of cash and requested items, as well as extensive shopping and fulfillment efforts led by the Wellington Noon Lions Club.

WHS Alumna Receives Educator Excellence Award

Wellington High School alumna Tiany Weber Pinter was recently hon - ored with the "Educator Excellence Award" by the Olathe Public Schools Foundation. Currently a 2nd-grade teacher at Mill - brook Elementary School in Olathe, KS, Tiany was nominated by colleagues, fellow teachers, and parents for her exceptional dedica - tion and positive impact.
