After months of dry, hot weather in Sumner County, farmers welcomed the rain on their fields. Most had scratched the crusty surface of their land and planted their winter wheat hoping the rain would come.

Wellington alumni cross country runner Conner Walker qualified to compete at the NJCAA National Championship meet to be held at Pole Green Park in Richmond, VA this week. Walker runs for Cowley College as a freshman.
Members of both of Wellington’s boys and girls cross country teams competed in the 4A KSHSAA state championships on a soggy, cold day in Wamego last Saturday. It was a muddy, miserable way for the runners to wrap up their season.
The Wellington girl’s golf team recently competed in the 4A Kansas State Golf Tournament and came back home with a 2nd Place trophy. The team placed just behind Topeka-Hayden which was the only team in the tournament to break 700.
