There were plenty of ghouls, goblins and zombies haunting the Trigger Guard Graveyard as the range hosted its annual “3 Gun Zombie Match” last Saturday. The competition featured four frightening stages and costumes were encouraged.

Recently, Valerie Earl, Director of the Wellington Chamber of Commerce and Convention & Visitors Bureau, and Chamber President-Elect Tonya Sturm traveled to Olathe, KS, to attend the Kansas Tourism Conference hosted by the Travel Industry Association of Kansas (TIAK). “My goal this year was to find more ways to incorporate tourism into our rural community,” said Earl.
Wellington’s football team put on a Senior Night Show that included a record breaking evening for quarterback Dusty Bannister. The Dukes dispatched El Dorado with ease in a tune-up game for the looming postseason.
The WHS girls’ cross country team finished in third place at the 4A Regional race held in Buhler. That result qualified the team to advance to the State meet this Saturday, November 2nd, at the Wamego Country Club.
As Election Day approaches next Tuesday, November 5th, the public is invited to witness a public test of the automatic tabulating voting equipment used in Sumner County at 9am tomorrow, November 1, 2024, in the Sumner County Clerk’s Office The Clerk’s office is located on the 1st Floor (not Ground Floor) of the Sumner County Courthouse. “Our office is required to test all of the election equipment as well as have a public test for people to observe,” explained Sumner County Election Officer, Debra Norris.
