Caldwell’s Homecoming Queen’s Court

The Caldwell community celebrated Homecoming last weekend with several special downtown events, including VR goggles and a big-screen movie at KanOkla’s Upstairs Downtown event space, a fall-themed photo booth, and classic cars cruising down Main Street. The Caldwell Homecoming Queen Court included (back row): Richard Crumbliss, Mak Blosser, Tanner Clarke, King Layten Caruthers, Omar Mortero, and Hurley Leighty; (front row): Kaylee Rowley, Keleen Eaton, Maddy Doyle, Queen Payton Stevenson, Piper Crumbliss, Ava Newell, Prince Bo Carroll, and Princess Paisley Potts.

Sharilyn Gaye Richards, fondly known as Shari, departed this world on October 24, 2024. Born on March 15, 1945, to Kenneth and Evelyn “Genece” (Wood) Jones in Wichita, Kansas.

Sumner County Is #1 – In Cotton Production

Sumner County, long known for its wheat production, has recently emerged as a leader in a different crop: cotton. In 2023, according to USDA figures, Sumner County moved into the top spot for cotton production in Kansas, with 59,300 bales, representing nearly 40% of the state’s total output.
