State Food Sales Tax Eliminated in January
The state sales tax on food in Kansas will be reduced to 0% by January 1, 2025. This phased reduction began when the legislature lowered the food tax from 6.5% to 4% in January 2023, and then to 2% in January 2024.
KGS Rates Increase November 1st
The Kansas Corporation Commission (KCC) has approved a settlement with Kansas Gas Service (KGS) that will result in an increase in local natural gas rates. Beginning November 1, 2024, Wellington residential customers with average usage will see an increase of approximately $3.83 per month.
