Recent Sumner County Leadership Initiative graduate Becca Murry has been named the new Executive Director of the Border Queen Harvest Hub (BQHH). She kicked off her tenure by touring all five farms during the Oxford Farm Tour held on June 29th.
Mark Jones, Superintendent of Operations for BNSF Railway, presented local artist and Wellington Parks Special Development member Ursula Goff with a $10,000 check from the BNSF Railway Foundation. The funds will be used to support the construction of the Heritage Plaza Sculpture that is currently underway at 7th and Washington Avenue.

The Wellington Heat started their week last Monday with a 17-4 win over the Wichita Farmers. The Heat scored three in the 2nd inning to jump out to a 3-0 lead.
Mayfield’s traditional men’s summer fast-pitch tournament was held last week and the team from Anthony went home with 1st Place. Wellington’s Tijuana Taxis placed 2nd in this fun filled event that is just as well known for its delicious hamburgers.
The 2024 Sumner County Fair, “Where the West Was Wild”, celebrates 97 Years of the fair on August 1-4, 2024, in Caldwell. The Fair Board has planned events for all ages, including several pre-fair activities.
Brylee Johnson, is a senior at WHS and in her second year as a lifeguard at the Wellington Family Aquatic Center. She decided to become a lifeguard because she had friends who worked as lifeguards and she thought it would be a fun summer job.
