Carol Ketcham Rogers, 88, of Northampton, Massachusetts, passed away on February 23, 2022, at the Rockridge Retirement Community in Northampton.
Carol was born on July 6, 1933, in Oklahoma City, the only child of Edward and Cleo (Richardson) Ketcham. After graduating from Classen High School in 1951, Carol went on to study English literature at Oklahoma State University, where she pledged Kappa Alpha Theta. At Stillwater Carol met Gerald Rogers, and after two years at OSU transferred to the University of Kansas, where Gerald began his study at the K. U. Law School. Carol and Gerald were married in Oklahoma City in 1954, and in 1955 completed their degrees and moved to Wellington, Kansas, where Gerald joined his father’s law firm.
That same year Carol gave birth to her first, Jeff, who was followed by Kipp in 1957, John in 1961, and, in 1966, by Anne. An avid reader and an unfailingly stylish dresser, Carol hadn’t grown up anticipating a life as a homemaker and mother of four. But she rose to the occasion of motherhood with gusto, and was a loving and devoted mother to her four children.
For many years in Wellington, she was a member of Book Club, Bridge Club, and P.E.O., having served the latter as President. An adult convert to Catholicism, she was a committed parishioner and volunteer at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, until she moved from Wellington to Wichita in 2004.
Carol was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Gerald; and by her son Kipp. She is survived by her children Jeff, of Las Vegas, Nevada; John (Andrea Walkden), of Toronto, Canada; Anne (Dawn Striker), of Northampton; and grandchildren Lily Rogers and Adeline Rogers.
A service for Carol will be held in Wellington at a later time. In lieu of flowers, it was Carol’s wish that donations be made to St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, in Wellington.
