Cyclist to Ride Near Wellington as Part of 700-Mile Statewide Journey

On October 5, Mike Scanlon will pedal both the North and South Loops of the Cottonwood Trail in Arkansas City, followed by a ride on the Prairie Sunset Trail out of Garden Plain the next morning. The rides are part of a month-long, 700-mile cycling journey across Kansas called Ride for Resilience, which launched September 15 and continues through October 15.

Boyd Band Rocks Memorial Hall 

The Jason Boyd Band brought high energy to Memorial Hall on Saturday, August 23, performing a benefit concert in support of the Wellington Baseball Association (WBA) along with the Wellington Youth Football and Cheer organizations. It was a true family affair, as young and old alike filled the dance floor in front of the stage while Boyd entertained the crowd with his signature mix of red-dirt and classic country music.

Wellington Fire Golf Classic Has Record Turnout

The 7th Annual Wellington Fire Golf Classic teed off last Saturday at the Wellington Golf Club, and despite a rainy start to the day, forty-five teams showed up ready to compete in the community’s largest scholarship golf tournament. The weather didn’t dampen spirits as golfers played through the drizzle, supporting a cause that benefits local students pursuing careers in public safety.

Flying Toad Farms Brings Fresh Produce to Wellington

Oxford-based Flying Toad Farms, a member of the Border Queen Harvest Hub, set up a produce stand in front of the Chisholm Trail Museum last Monday and plans to continue offering fresh produce there each week from 4 to 6:30 pm for the next couple of months. Shoppers on Monday found a spread of locally grown watermelons, tomatoes, jalapeños, onions, and a variety of squash, with cantaloupe expected to be available next week.
