Local Partnership Adds Color

For the second year in a row, Mill Creek Lumber, in partnership with the True Value Foundation’s Painting a Brighter Future program, has donated 20 gallons of paint to USD 353. The paint grant program aims to improve learning environments and positively impact student attitudes and performance.

Furry Friends Make a Splash

Last week, local four-legged friends closed the Wellington Aquatic Center pool with a splash — and a wag! The Annual Doggie Dive brought out more than thirty happy canines for one last swim before the season ended, raising $250 for the Wellington Humane Society. “It was really awesome to see so many dogs that were adopted from our shelter over the last few years come back to join the fun!” said Jodie Hearlson, Director of the Wellington Humane Society.

Wooly Mayhem Packs the House

There was standing room only at the Sumner County Fair last weekend as a herd of pint-sized daredevils took on the fluffiest foes in the ring: sheep. That’s right—Mutton Bustin’ drew a record-breaking 35 young competitors eager to test their grip (and their grit) on the wooly wild rides.

Sunflower Power At The Fair

The 98th annual Sumner County Fair, July 31-August 3, 2025 was filled with family events, a colorful parade, lots of exhibits to explore and livestock shows to see. The weather was mild which brought out the crowds to enjoy the music and small-town atmosphere.
