Last Thursday, I had the pleasure of joining community members, friends, family, and employees of Cowley College to celebrate Dr. Michelle Schoon at her presidential inauguration. Dr. Schoon is the seventh president and first female president in the history of Cowley College.
This Saturday on the Cowley College Sumner Campus, the Sumner County Health Department will be hosting their first Community Baby Shower for new and expecting mothers, caregivers, and families with children under 5 years.
The American Red Cross will be hosting their annual summer blood drive next Tuesday, September 12th, 10am - 4pm at Memorial Auditorium. The organization is always seeking donors to help save lives, but this is an especially critical time of year due to low donor count.

__________. ____ Event coordinator, Shelley Pooler from The Girl With A Black Dog, promised the community there would be “Dogs, Cats and Cowboys Hats” and she and her group of volunteers did not disappoint.
__________. ____ Hot enough for Washington Elementary School 5th Graders to make some very “cool” artwork! Leah Stewart, the Physical Education (PE) teacher at Washington, used a vibrant art/science experiment to emphasize the importance of staying hydrated in extreme heat like the weather we have been experiencing this month.

It’s that time of year!. Summer vacation is over and the kids are back in school. Where has the summer gone? It seems like only yesterday that the Library was celebrating the Kick-Off of the Summer Reading Program.
