As first-timers (and last-timers), we found ourselves walking the Sunflower Trail alongside a couple who had attended all 20 years of the Symphony in the Flint Hills. What a contrast of scenery! The colors of the prairie and the soft cloud cover made for a beautiful day — breezy and maybe 80 degrees at most.

Thanks to recent rainfall, the boat ramps at Wellington Lake reopened on Friday, June 6. The ramps will remain open as long as the water level stays within 36 inches of the normal pool.
Mental Health America of the Heartland (MHAH) conducted a day-long mental health seminar entitled “Recognizing and Responding to Persons with Mental Illness” on the Sumner Campus of Cowley College. The training was conducted to provide first responders and school personnel with a better understanding of mental illness and how to respond effectively when an individual is experiencing a mental health crisis.
