The USD 353 Kindergarten Round-Up was held at the high school last week and featured some unique entertainment as well as a special gift. The goal of the Roundup was to get as many of the community’s youngest students enrolled early in school.
The Wellington Senior Center has served the community of Wellington well beyond 25 years. However, the Center will be celebrating 25 years at its current location and are inviting the public to join.
It was standing room only as guests of all ages attended the festive Spring Tea at the National Depression Glass Museum in downtown Wellington on Saturday. Museum volunteers greeted attendees to the free event and most everyone took the opportunity to dress up in their favorite spring attire.
If you’ve seen a few new faces in town recently, they may have been sewists traveling as part of the “Great Sewing Adventures Across Kansas & Nebraska” Shop Hop. This regional Shop Hop began on April 1st, and as we approach the halfway mark, our store alone has handed out more than 180 Passports.
The Knights of Columbus held a Bingo party last Sunday to help raise funds for a much-needed new HVAC system for their building. Event organizer, Linda Metzen, hosted 20 Bingo games with monetary prizes donated by local sponsors.
As the world celebrates Earth Day, the Wellington Humane Society wants to remind the community that the shelter has two “Can Recycle Bin” locations in Wellington. One bin is located in the parking lot at Orscheln’s and the other is in the parking lot behind Penny’s Diner.
