It was not an April Fool’s prank! Beehive Instructor, Rita Figg, really did teach a class how to embroider on toilet paper. You might be thinking that this is a crazy idea, and we did at first too, but embroidered toilet rolls make terrific elephant or gag gifts.

Time For A Great Night Out

The Wellington Area Chamber Commerce hosted their annual Ladies Night Out event complete with shopping, henna tattoos, prize drawings, a drink pull, a purse auction, and delicious food and drink. This year’s event was so popular that even with the large open area of Memorial Auditorium, event planners could have used more space.

Lights Are On!

The City of Wellington Utilities Department recently installed new lights in Sellers Park in cooperation with the Wellington Park Board and the many young users of the skate park. Last October, Danny Walker, a skateboarder that regularly uses the park, spoke at the monthly Park Board meeting and requested that the City consider adding some lights to extend the hours the skate park could be utilized.

April is for Poetry

National Poetry Month is upon us. The Library celebrates each year with a variety of poetry-related activities, programs and displays. Come in and add a leaf to our “Poet- tree” by writing a short poem. Or, add a favorite poem and the poet’s name to the leaf.

Last week, I had a delightful trip to Parsons Kansas to host a “Favorite Things” trunk show and teach the Laura Heine’s collage technique to a great group of ladies. We had 18 students in the class, most were part of the local quilt guild but several had driven quite a long distance to join us.
