In this episode of the “Sit Down with the Supt”, Superintendent Adam Hatfield and host Ryan Jenkins sit down with featured guest Jennifer Ault, WHS and WMS choir director. Ault talks about her past relationship with the Wellington choir and her plans to grow the program.
The classic play “Snow Queen” by Hans Christian Anderson is coming to Wellington courtesy of a cast of young actors and our very own local playwright. Will Ledesma has adapted the theatrical piece, adding his own brand of humor and a bit of a twist.
Next year, WHS senior Philip Starnes will be playing in the band at Sterling College in Sterling, KS. The son of Christopher and Donna Starnes of Wellington, he will play trombone for the Sterling College Band and plans to major in Music Education.
Congratulations to the students from Wellington that earned spots on the Cowley College President’s and Dean’s Honor Rolls for the Fall 2022 semester. Students listed on the President’s Honor Roll earned 4.0 grade-point average, on a 4.0 scale, and completed a minimum of 12 credit hours.
Throughout the week, Monica the Indian Rhino at Tanganyika Wildlife Park has gotten more milk in and has continued to show more physical changes that indicate she is getting closer to giving birth. Her keepers have started to introduce her to the stall that she will be giving birth in, so that she can get comfortable being on the new bedding and around the baby proofing.
Raymond Carter’s journey covers 100 years. He has outlived most, including his two wives and four children. He’s worked as a fry cook, machinist and postman. One of his greatest journeys started at the age of 18 in Wellington, KS and landed him on the beaches of Okinawa.
Sumner County Hospital commemorated the opening of the new Caldwell Regional Medical Center by hosting an unveiling ceremony, ribbon cutting and open house on January 24th, 2023. Medical center staff, the Board of Trustees, and the hospital CEO, welcomed citizens from around the county to the Caldwell Community Building to celebrate the opening of the medical center.
Only 10 months old, Rover has been through a lot. He was dumped in the county, found emaciated and full of parasites. He has since gained weight and is thriving at the shelter. Two of his brothers have been adopted and Rover is ready for a home of his own. He’s goofy and sweet, a little shy at first, but warms up quickly and loves attention. We think he’s a large breed mix with some Boxer. Just look at this adorable mug!
Last week, the USD 353 Board of Education held a special meeting to review the athletic facilities survey that will be made available to the community. The goal of the meeting was for the board to refine and finalize the questions on the survey.
About sixty-five patrons took advantage of the opportunity to meet with fifteen local organizations and agencies during the recent Resource Fair held at the Wellington Public Library.
