NREL Hopes Research in Wellington Benefits Consumers and Electric Grid

Jason Newberry, Interim City Manager, and Barry Dicker, Project Leader and President of Decent Energy, Inc. provided Dr. Chuck Booten, Senior Engineer, Building Energy Sciences Mechanical and Thermal Systems Engineering with the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) a tour of the buildings and thermal tile installation in Sumner County’s “Building Technologies Proving Ground – Public Sector Field Validation” project that was awarded by the United States Department of Energy (DOE).

Wellington Humane Society: Pet of the Week

Siren is not only a beautiful dog, but she is smart too! She knows several commands and has completed some training. She was originally a rescue that lived with a foster before finding a home. Sadly, the family moved out of state and left Siren to fend for herself. Her foster was able to get her back safely and bring her to the Humane Society. She is house-trained, spayed, up to date on all shots, and ready to go!

Processing Glass Donations

The National Depression Glass Association Museum, (NDGA), located at 107 N Washington has been an established museum since 2002. Run completely by volunteers, the museum only exhibits American Made Early American Pattern Glass up through Mid Century Modern Glass. Accordingly, the glass can date from the 1850’s all the way through the 1970’s.

Local Pageant Star Takes on Nationals

Ava Riojas, daughter of Albert and Jamie Riojas, and granddaughter of locals Joel and Pam Harris, is entering the 7th grade in Derby this year. Many of her interests and school activities are similar to her peers; National Honor Society, STUCO, Dance, Cheer, Volleyball. But, Ava also participates in the National American Miss pageant.
