Buzz From the Beehive

Summer is in full swing, and school is starting soon, but there’s still over 40 days of summer left to travel and visit other quilt shops! My Mom and business partner, Connie Hart, and I, love running our store and the business has grown by leaps and bounds since we opened four years ago. To keep those creative juices flowing and to stay mentally energized, we know it’s important to keep learning and gathering new ideas.

Yappy Hour On the Library Lawn

The Mutts and Margaritas event was filled with tasty snacks for furry beasts and their friends, a groovy band and costumed pooches. The Kitty Hawk Krash, a Kansas based band, playing acoustic rock music, played groovy tunes into the evening. The Library lawn was filled with people and pets that came out to support the Library’s festive fundraiser. The “Yappy Hour”event was held to raise funds needed to upgrade the elevator.

Since their early days in America, agricultural fairs have grown to serve many purposes. For me, the fair does an excellent job of providing fun, educational, and engaging entertainment for all who attend, symbolizing an exciting summer pastime.

Inspiring young quilters is something I believe in so much! This past year, I’ve had the pleasure of getting to know a young designer, Angela Davis. You may have seen Angela’s award winning quilt in the Wheat Capital Quilt Society’s annual Quilt Show held during the Kansas Wheat Festival. Angela won the Youth Division Quilt with her Watermelon Patch quilt.

A Summer Time Wrap-Up

The Wellington Library’s Summer Reading Program has come to end and we want to thank everyone for their participation. We had over 250 children join the Oceans of Possibilities program. We also enjoyed visits from the Lincoln Elementary summer school session, where we made thaumatropes, and the students earned a prize for signing up for summer reading.
