Keeping It Cool

The Wellington Public Library celebrated the first month of their “Oceans of Possibilities” Summer Reading Program with an old-fashioned ice cream social. Readers could choose from popsicles, ice cream and ice cream sandwiches as they escaped the hot temperatures outside.

The Common Threads Quilt Show is a huge regional quilt show that takes place every two years in Wichita. Hosted by the Prairie Quilt Guild at the Century II Convention Center, this year’s show is even more special because, due to COVID, it’s been 4 years since members have gathered. That’s twice the amount of time to make beautiful quilts!

Mermaids and Hedgehogs

A Mermaid Party and Hedgehog Ceramics are just two of the Youth Art Programs provided by The Wellington Recreation Commission (WRC) this summer. Mermaid party goers painted mermaid tails and added lots of glitter and sparkles to yarn mermaids.

Quilt Story Telling

The staff at The Hive recently organized a session with Jackie Clark, a Wichita-based quilt appraiser that area residents could utilize for quilt appraisals. During this event, the “Crazy” quilt that Jackie Glasgow bought in to be appraised was exquisite.
