Baker’s Bonanza

Festival goers crowded into the Wellington Senior Center on Thursday evening to take advantage of the Baker’s Bonanza Bake Sale. After the home-cooked, made-from-scratch competition goods were judged, the remaining items were repackaged and offered for sale.

Wheat Run Fun

For the second consecutive year, the Kanokla Wheat Run kicked off the Kansas Wheat Festival activities early Saturday morning. This year, more than 60 runners participated in the 5k or 1-mile run, which started from the Kanokla offices downtown.

Edible Books Design Competition

The Edible Book Contest and Bookmark Design Contest filled the main floor of the Wellington Library as the public cast their votes for the People’s Choice winners. For the competition, entrants picked a favorite book and used delicious sweets to recreate the book’s cover.

A Journey To Oz

With magical sets, colorful lighting, creative puppetry, and talented young actors, Memorial Auditorium in Kansas was transformed into the mystical world of Oz. Months of preparation went into the Wellington Community Theater show, written and directed by local playwright Will Ledesma.

Kids Think It’s A Blast

The Wellington Recreation Commission has continued its more than 20 year tradition of a fun, and inexpensive summer activity for kids, ages 3-4 and their parents - Blast Ball. For just 20 bucks, the “honking” base path is established to inspire future Crusader baseball and softball players.
