April Is National Poetry Month
Poetry has an important place in our lives and National Poetry Month has become one of the largest literary celebrations in the world. It was launched in 1996 by the Academy of American Poets to increase awareness and appreciation of poetry in the United States.

Hovering Around WMS Scientists
Young scientists from Wellington Middle School filled the halls with over 50 presentations, sharing their experiments and knowledge with siblings, parents, grandparents, and the general public at the recent Science Fair.

WHS Students Build Hoop House
Wellington High School students in the Industrial Arts, Construction, and Advanced Ag Welding classes took advantage of the excellent weather last week to start construction of the Horticulture program’s new hoop house.

Sports Closet Opens!
The new Sports Closet, established by Sumner County Leadership Initiative members Becca Murry and Sean Clift, opened to the public for the first time last Saturday in the front lobby of the Wellington Recreation Center.

Ft. Hays Honors Students From Wellington
Fort Hays State University has named local students Zoey Buckle and Grace Theurer to the Deans’ Honor Roll for the fall 2023 semester. To be recognized for this achievement, students must have completed 12 or more credit hours and earned a minimum gradepoint average of 3.60 for the semester.
