Blessed With A Dress

The Blessing House hosted a successful “Prom Shop” event, offering local girls a selection of over 200 gowns in various colors and sizes for their upcoming Prom festivities. The event, held in an elegant setting that included snacks and gift bags, allowed the girls to “shop” for the perfect gown.

Wellington Youth Track Program

The Wellington Recreation Commission and the Wellington High School track team are teaming up again this year to offer the Wellington Youth Track program. The program for youth ages 4 through 6th grade includes four practices, a t-shirt, and entry into the WRC Track Meet which will be held on Sunday, April 14th at the Wellington Middle School Track.

Hunt Selected for Shrine Duals

WHS senior and KSHSAA Wrestling Champion Aubrey Hunt has been chosen by the Kansas Wrestling Coaches Association to compete in the inaugural KWCA Kansas Shrine Duals. The event will take place on Sunday, March 17th at Fugate Gymnasium on the campus of Newman University. Hunt will represent the West in the 191 weight category and will face off against East competitor Morgan Miller from Blue Valley Southwest.

Building Trade Classes Offered in Wellington

Are you a contractor in the building trades looking to enhance your knowledge of relevant electrical, mechanical, and plumbing codes? The Heart of America Chapter, ICC, in partnership with the cities of Wellington, Winfield, and Arkansas City, is hosting the South Central Kansas Education Conference on Saturday, March 30th, from 8am to 4pm on Cowley College’s Sumner Campus. Contractors, trade professionals, code officials, and designers are encouraged to attend the following classes: “Grounding & Bonding: 2020 NEC & 2021 IRC”, is a course directed to participants wanting a greater understanding of the grounding and bonding provision found in Article 250 of the 2020 NEC.

Lions Host Taco Dinner

Members of the Wellington Noon Lions Club hosted a delicious Taco Dinner in the WHS commons area before last Thursday’s basketball games. The enthusiastic group dished out approximately 300 fried tacos, along with chips & salsa, and homemade desserts.
