Elementary Students Celebrate Kansas Day

On Monday, January 29th, Kansas marked its163rd birthday, and the occasion was celebrated at both Eisenhower and Washington Elementary Schools. Guided by 4th-grade teacher Vanessa Sawyer, students at Eisenhower’s 4th grade took on the role of instructors, imparting Kansas history and knowledge to the Kindergarten and First Grade classes.

Big Week For WHS Wrestling

After competing in a dual at home against Clearwater last Thursday, the Wellington girls and boys wrestling teams competed in tournaments on back to back days going to Remington on Friday and the girls went to Wichita South on Saturday.

MLB Scout To Speak In Wellington

Steve Springer, a current scout for the Oakland Athletics and Owner of Quality At-Bats, is set to speak in the WHS Auditorium at 5pm on Saturday, February 10th. With over 14 years of experience as a professional player and more than 1,600 hits in the minor and major leagues with the Mets and Indians, Springer will share insights gained from his 30+ years in professional baseball as a player, agent, and scout.

Smalley Earns Spot On Dean’s List

Washburn University proudly announced that Kayleigh Smalley of Wellington achieved Dean’s List honors during the Fall 2023 semester. To qualify for this distinction, Kayleigh demonstrated outstanding academic performance by being enrolled in at least 12 hours of graded credits and achieving a semester grade point between 3.4 to 3.99.
