Few students can say they have interned at Spirit AeroSystems before graduating from high school, but WHS Senior Thalia Garcia can. While planning to intern as an accountant, she learned to weld instead, leading her career path in a whole new direction.
It is exciting when our office can share the successes of the Sumner County Leadership Program graduates. As I’ve previously noted, part of that program requires that each student identify a project they would like to implement in their own communities.
WHS graduate Julia Starnes was named to the Dean’s list for the Spring 2023 semester at Washington University in St. Louis.
Are you 50 years old or retired? The Cowley College Golden Tigers is an educational program created with you in mind and includes classes, day trips, and workshops. Enrollment in the program is coming up on the Sumner Campus Thursday, August 24th, from 11am to 1pm in the Short Center Community Room.
After a successful first year hosting Future’s Preschool at Kennedy Elementary, the staff is ready for year two. The program will again be offered at no cost for all students.

The hot weather provided the perfect atmosphere for the SCCDAT Pool Party at the Wellington Family Aquatic Center. 185 kids from 6 Sumner County schools enjoyed Big Cheese Pizza, the water slides and the company!

As back-to-school time approaches, the “All Together Now” summer reading program is coming to a close. This summer’s program was a tremendous success with over 1,000 adults and children participating throughout the summer.
