Three students from Wellington have graduated from Emporia State University with the following degrees: Adrienne Michelle Norris graduated Summa Cum Laude with her Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Elementary Education. This fall, she will be teaching 1st Grade at Nelson Elementary in Haysville.
The “I Heart Cookies Co.” food truck made a stop in Wellington last Friday along with special guest Bumblebee. They baked up a variety of deep-dish, ooey-gooey cookie goodness to the delight of the locals.

All Sumner County high school students are invited to a free Back-To-School Pool Party at the Wellington Family Aquatic Center, Tuesday, August 1st, 7:30 – 9pm. The Sumner County Community Drug Action Team (SCCDAT), a countywide organization that engages Sumner communities, families and youth to prevent and decrease drug use, will cover admission to the pool.
The seventh Annual Edible Book Contest had a number of inspired entries. The designs covered an assortment of themes inspired by a wide variety of books starring pigs, cats, dragons, and caterpillars.
Last week, incoming Band Director, Joseph Fisher, conducted his first WHS band camp with about 20 high school students. The full day camp included inside and outside rehearsals to help the student musicians prepare for the upcoming school year.

The Sumner County 4-H Fair exhibit opens today, Wednesday, from 4 – 8pm in the Raymond Frye Complex, located adjacent to the carnival rides at 320 North Jefferson Avenue. The exhibit is also open to the public from 4 – 8pm Thursday and Friday and 10am – 4pm on Saturday, including a Bake Sale and free popcorn each day.
Local seniors recently returned from an enjoyable trip to the Philadelphia area coordinated by the Wellington Senior Center.The trip, unique to this area, attracted 43 attendees from around Kansas and Oklahoma.
