Have you spent any time downtown recently? It’s quite likely you have noticed and admired the beautiful flowers and bushes blooming in the concrete planters. The colorful handy work is thanks to the efforts of avid local gardeners Nick Miller and Dustin Johnston.
This í la, Cowley Community College, (CCC), and professionals from USD 353 have teamed up to bring high-tech learning to young students for free. Kids grades 1st - 9th will have a chance to work with technology and robots at two different camps, one here in Wellington and the other in Caldwell.
Christian Buckman, junior, has been named to the University of Nebraska-Lincoln Dean’s List for the spring semester of the 2022-23 academic year. Buckman is in the College of Business studying Finance.
Wichita State University listed 12 students from Wellington as part of the Dean’s Honor Roll for Spring 2023. To be included on the dean’s honor roll, a student must be enrolled full time with at least 12 credit hours and earn at least a 3.5 grade point average on a 4.0 scale.
Wichita State U niversity Out of the 2,060 students who completed a total of2,293 degrees at Wichita State University this spring 6 ,of those graduates are Wellington natives with 2 of them graduating Cum Laude .Undergraduate students who have attained a grade point average of 3.25 received the cum laude award.
The Wellington Public Library hosted a ZooReach adventure as part of their “All Together Now” summer reading program at the Raymond Frye Complex. Kids of all ages filled the community room and got an up close view of some very special creatures.
This week, Wichita Construction Group began repairing the guardrail on West 15th Street. The project will take 3 – 4 weeks to complete.
Being a kid in the 1850’s was hard. Booming urbanization forced many to work in factories or to live in the streets.
The field was a little soggy, but that didn’t stop over 75 kids from joining Wellington Heat players and coaches at historic Hibbs-Hooten Field for baseball camp. Lead by the Heat college players, the camp covered all the basic baseball skills and fundamentals including pitching, fielding ground balls, catching fly balls, running the bases, hitting and more.
Even with the cooler temperatures and scattered clouds, families were lined up for the opening of the Wellington Family Aquatic Center on June 3rd. This season, the pool will be open Monday through Sunday, 1:00 - 7:00 pm through August 6th.
