This past week the Kansas State Library announced the books that made their 2023 Kansas Notable Books list.
With school coming to an end and the hot summer months already in full swing, you may be looking for summer time activities for your school aged kids. The Wellington Public Library has a number of summer programs for all ages and hosted a street party to get everyone started.
The 2023 WHS Seniors dressed in their caps and gowns were honored in the gymnasium on their last day of class, May 17th. As part of the celebration, 3 WHS graduates were inducted into The Crusader Wall of Recognition: Betty Sue Anderson, WHS Class of 1959 Dr.
Tiffin Meyer’s 4th grade class from Kennedy Elementary gathered up their tackle boxes, poles and worms and headed to the Hargis Creek Watershed to go fishing. Three majestic cormorants watched from a nearby tree as the students searched for crawdads and freshwater mussels.
At Night At The Movies was the theme for the WHS Choir’s 2023 Crusader Escapades. The colorful lighting and fun wardrobe changes were second only to the talented singer’s performances.
With just a few weeks left in the school year, now is the time to start thinking about summer reading plans. We have some exciting events planned and would especially encourage you to include the library’s Summer Reading Program in your summer activities.
Library staff had arts, crafts and a seed planting station set-up to Celebrate Earth Day last Thursday. Families planted their own mini-flower and vegetable gardens in tin containers to take home.
The 4th Annual Wellington Youth Track Meet held last Saturday was well attended by over 80 athletes age 4 through 6th Grade. The Wellington Recreation Commission partners with the WHS Track team to host the citywide event.
A Driver Education course will be offered by USD 353 this summer for students who have completed their eighth grade year of school and who will be 14 years of age by May 31, 2023, but not yet 19 years of age by September 1, 2023.
